Church Doll with Tina Hatem
The history of Church Dolls dates back to the time of the Civil War. Mothers and grandmothers used hankies or pillowcases to fashion cloth dolls to be used in church. These dolls would amuse the children and make no noise if dropped! In this class we will be making an 11 inch pillowcase version of the Church Doll with a modern take. The dolls will be done with fabrics and embellishments to give a nod to Philadelphia and its most famous revolutionary crafter, Betsy Ross. Think of it as a souvenir of your time in Philly! This class is appropriate for crafters and sewers of all levels, novice to very experienced. All materials and supplies will be provided but those who wish to bring their own sewing needles, pins or scissors are welcome to do so. We will also be making the quick no-sew (and no cutting) hankie version of the doll so those who have a hankie that they would like to use should bring it! Class limited to 20 students. Fee: $50
