"Brimstone"

Brimstone is (In my opinion) my best, and most impressive, Dragon creation to date. Created in 2023, Brimstone was created over several months time out of many types of materials and techniques. I couldn't be more proud of this one of a kind Dragon, and proudly offer it to the discriminating collector.

Brimstone is a large, heavy dragon. The body is constructed over a very heavy wire armature. The head, legs and tip of his tail and all his spikes are sculpted from polymer clay. The wings span 24 inches when opened. The Dragon- as posed- is 24 x 14 x 12 (without the height of the wings). The spread out wings add another 12 inches to the height and 24 inches to the width. Brimstone's body is needle felted wool then covered with beautiful dyed German kid mohair on top and dyed German tissavel underneath. His wings are black silk over a wire structure, covered with silicone, heavily textured and distressed with artist tints. I wanted them to have a battle-worn appearance. The spines and wing skin wings can be gently folded or spread outward as desired.

Brimstone is very durable and will stand considerable handling. He gets his name from sections of his skin that give the appearance of glowing coals. This was done by embroidering flames with metallic threads, over which I applied beadwork. After these panels were sewed into place they were covered with resin. There are areas on his back and sides that will glow a blueish tint after exposure to ultraviolet light when viewed in the dark.

Because Brimstone is a battle dragon, he wears a riders seat on his spine crafted from quartz crystals. There is a long-shafted spear and a mace on a holder. The mace can be attached to chains on Brimstone's tail during battle.

Brimstone was created as a stand alone piece and will not be duplicated. Every creation is lovingly crafted one of a kind. Brimstone has artist tags and comes with a certificate of authenticity. Photographs don't do him justice, but I have shown him to my best ability.

Please ask any questions before purchasing.

"Octopus's Garden"

Thank you for looking at my original Octopus mixed-media soft sculpture!

Octopus's Garden is made by the needle felt method over wire armature, then covered with silicone. Legs are static and wired together in the pose you observe. This is 20 in. wide x 18 in. deep x 10in. high. Much of the components you see covering its skin are polymer clay, (several hundred octopus suckers), liquid polymer, porcelain clay, needlefelt wool, merino wool, mohair, silk, glass, pvc, art yarns, metal, wood. This is truly a multi-media work that won the People's Choice Award 2nd place in Flagstaff 2023 Wool & Fiber Festival. The judge for the show said, "Your work goes way beyond needle felting". And that has always been my goal in my work.

Octopus's Garden took me several months to create and I have photographed it to the best of my abilities, but its difficult to capture a 3D object with a flat picture.

My desire was to create Octopus's Garden with what looks like ocean algae, and coral growing on/around its skin - an Octopus's garden if you will. I hope you like it!

"Pink Orchid Mantis"

Meet Lei-Loo a Pink Orchid Mantis of my own creation. Yes, there are many types of Mantids, but none as tiny or delicate as the Pink Orchid Mantis.

Lei-Loo is constructed with the needle - felt method over wire armature, stiffened and tinted with pastels and acrylic paints. Parts of her head, wing casement, legs are all sculpted with polymer clay. Eyes are hand-painted glass, wings are stiffened hand-painted silk. Then after all that work I began adding extensive beadwork in greens, pinks, and white.

Lei-Loo is fairly static, but her head turns and her wings can be spread or straight as you want. I guarantee you'll never see another Mantis like Lei-Loo! She comes with artist tags, Certificate of Authenticity and my hand-made Pink Orchid flower.

Lei-Loo is 14 inches from nose to tail tip, 7 inches from ground to top of head and 9 inches wide.

Thank you for your interest in Lei-Loo! Pictures don't do her justice! She is waiting for her forever home!

"SuZu Ladybug"

SuZu Ladybug is an exclusive creation for the December 2023 Doll and Teddy Bear Artist Online Show!

I'm an award-winning multi-media artist and my passion is creating unique collectible critters for my fans and collectors. Even though SuZu is not a large piece, she took several weeks of intensive labor to get her "just right" - and she certainly is!

SuZu is one of a kind - as are all my creations! She is made of hardened wool over wire armature, with eight legs, two wings and two wing covers! Her wings are stiffened margellan silk. Her wings covers are stiffened wool that are embroidered, beaded, and tinted with pastels, mica powders and Chunky glitter bits. Her wings can be gently posed closed or open - getting ready for lift off! SuZu has hand blown German glass eyes and tiny blown glass antennae tips. You will adore her long curled eye-lashes too! The tiny details on this piece will make SuZu one of your most treasured collections - photos don't do her justice!

SuZu comes with artist tags, Certificate of Authenticity and my own hand-crafted Pansies to keep SuZu company in her new home!

Thank you for your consideration and following my work!

"Desert Horses"

I personally love southwestern style art and decor. Running with the wind in their manes these two needle felted ponies are done in that simplistic southwestern style with pastel shading and light beadwork. These will blend in with any decor style. Get this one of a kind pair while you can!

The larger horse stands 9 x 6 inches, the smaller is 7.5 x 5 inches. Both are very firmly needle felted and surface treated, then beaded. The manes and tails are dyed/stiffened Dartmoor locks. Both have artist tags, Certificate of Authenticity.

$175USD/Pair

ABOUT ME
I am a Colorado native, born 1956. I started drawing free-hand at age five. My first art lessons were at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center in 3rd grade, advanced placement art in High School, and majored in fine art/sculpture at university.
I currently work full-time as a free-lance artist in Las Vegas, NV. I consider myself a multi-media artist, working with needle felt wool, polymer clay, resin, beadwork, etc., to create bespoke pieces in realism and fantasy.
Since starting work in the multi-media critter world 7 years ago I have gotten involved in online shows- BCA (Bear Collectors Annonymous) and a few live shows - my last was in Flagstaff, AZ June 2023 at the Flagstaff Wool and Fiber Art Exhibition in which I received First place and People's Choice (second place).
I get my inspiration from my favorite movies, nature, and my imagination. I enjoy taking my subject to the next level by adding movement, texture, and a playful spirit using the basics of balance, color and multiple mediums. I feel I have always been an impressionist at heart. I enjoy 2 dimensional art, but my spirit loves the third dimensional world of sculpture and that is what inspires me the most.
I feel that every new piece is better than my last, and I never want to stop feeling that way about my art. Every piece is different from the last and I tend to make a realistic piece - then a fantasy piece to keep my creative processes flowing freely.
Outside of creating art, I enjoy travel, being outside as much as possible, riding my bike on trails in the desert, and cooking real food for the mind and body.
